George Bush Thinks You’re Stupid

Don’t piss on my black kettle George.  So here’s the deal.  In 1982, a real republican named Ronald Reagan sent a bill back to congress because it had way too many earmarks on it.  (An ear mark is pork barrel spending)  The total of earmarks?  182.  Last year, one bill that George Bush signed had over 6,500 earmarks on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now Bushy is insulting the American people, saying that congress needs a whopping cut on earmarks of at least 50%.  Now obviously this is an attempt to make the new congress look bad, but he aint pullin the wool over this bloggers eyes.  If you want my opinion, there shold be 0 earmarks.  Now I know that isn’t possible for either democrats or republicrats.  I’m sure Georgy will get his base all riled up cuz congress passes a bill with 4,000 earmarks on it.  My only question is this…….Why didn’t you care the last 6 years?  WE all know the answer to that.

Dictatorish…Bush challenges hundreds of laws

WASHINGTON — President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.

Among the laws Bush said he can ignore are military rules and regulations, affirmative-action provisions, requirements that Congress be told about immigration services problems, ”whistle-blower” protections for nuclear regulatory officials, and safeguards against political interference in federally funded research.

PortGate

Critics of the Dubai ports deal had some legitimate reasons to complain. One concern first raised by CNN’s Lou Dobbs was the close ties between Bush family members of and the United Arab Emirates, the country whose firm would have taken over operations at several major U.S. ports.

The oil-rich Middle Eastern country is a major investor in The Carlyle Group, the private equity investment firm for which President Bush’s father once served as a senior adviser, CNN correspondent Christine Romans revealed on “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

And the president’s brother Neil Bush has reportedly gotten funding for his software company from investors in the UAE, according to Romans.

The UAE also has a connection with Bush’s cabinet. Treasury Secretary John Snow was chairman of the railroad company CSX, which after his departure sold its international port operations to Dubai Ports World, the government-owned UAE firm that had sought to take over operations at American ports.

In addition, President Bush selected David Sanborn, the former director of Dubai Ports’ European and Latin American operations, to head the U.S. Maritime Administration, the agency that oversees U.S. port operations.

“Now some members of Congress, some of whom have already confirmed Sanborn, say they’d like to take a closer look at this nomination,” Romans reported.

Lou Dobbs, who came out against the port deal, added that lobbyists for the UAE “don’t see anything wrong with helping push this $7 billion port deal through, even if it raises serious questions about national security.”  - newsmax.com

Brother…

When President Bush last week signed the bill outlawing the torture of detainees, he quietly reserved the right to bypass the law under his powers as commander in chief.  He is using these “signing statements” just a wee bit too much,

Yes I think it is ok to torture enemies, to a certain extent, in order to obtain crucial information that may prevent an attack against my country.  No, I do not think it is ok to make a mockery of democracy by signing a bill that means nothing when/if overridden.

BUSH LOSING CONTROL OF SELF, ADMIN?

Thursday, October 13, 2005 - FreeMarketNews.com

“Government by temper tantrum” is worsening, according to reports in various publications including Capitol Hill Blue which cites “increasing tongue-lashing of staffers, obscenity-filled outbursts and a leader driven to the edge by what he sees as party disloyalty and a country that no longer trusts him.”

The article notes that “Conservative backlash over his latest Supreme Court nominee may, in fact, have pushed the president over the edge.” and quotes one White House aide as saying, “He’s out of control. There’s no other way to put it. His anger spills over in meetings. He berates anyone who brings him bad news but there’s not a lot of good news we can bring the president right now. He calls other Republicans ‘motherf**king traitors’ and it is becoming more and more of a challenge to keep that anger from showing in public.”

Bush’s exodus from Washington to escape “the largest anti-war rally since Vietnam” is symptomatic of Bush’s difficulty restraining himself. When reporters implied he was running away from the situation, he is said to have retorted, “No, goddamn it, I’m going to keep track of hurricane relief.” In fact he flew instead to a command center in Colorado and only watched the events in New Orleans. Meanwhile, as he was leaving the conference, Bush reportedly shoved his way past aides to avoid more questions.- ST

Just for the record, I did vote fore Bush.  In 2000, Bush ripped Al Gore and the Clinton Administration for nation building in the debates.  Bush against nation-building?  He’s got my vote.  Well, to look back now, I don’t really view the Clinton legacy as one of nation building, hmmm, if any???  Anyways, Needless to say, I am a pissed off voter, giving that was the number one issue I voted for him.  We dont even have enough money to pay for Katrina or Rita, so we borrow it.  I have heard many people say “we don’t have the money for Americas disasters because of the Wars.”  Not true either, cuz we didn’t have the money for the wars either.  We borrowed it all.  K, I admit we are number 1, but for how long???

Hmmmm

Just to let you know, I debated even posting this, except for I know George Bush is a born-again Christian, and when asked in the republican primary debates who his favorite philosopher was, he replied “Christ”…..I know the BBC is pretty liberal, but that does not mean these are lies, nor does it mean it is true.  I believe the quotes to be true, but the quotes from the palestinians on what Bush said may be exagerated.  Read at your own risk…

President George W Bush told Palestinian ministers that God had told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq - and create a Palestinian State, a new BBC series reveals.

In Elusive Peace: Israel and the Arabs, a major three-part series on BBC TWO (at 9.00pm on Monday 10, Monday 17 and Monday 24 October), Abu Mazen, Palestinian Prime Minister, and Nabil Shaath, his Foreign Minister, describe their first meeting with President Bush in June 2003.Nabil Shaath says: “President Bush said to all of us: ‘I’m driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, “George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.” And I did, and then God would tell me, “George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …” And I did. And now, again, I feel God’s words coming to me, “Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East.” And by God I’m gonna do it.’” Abu Mazen was at the same meeting and recounts how President Bush told him: “I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state.” The series charts the attempts to bring peace to the Middle East, from President Bill Clinton’s peace talks in 1999/2000 to Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza last August. Norma Percy, series producer of The 50 Years War (1998) returns, with producers Mark Anderson and Dan Edge, to tell the inside story of another seven years of crisis.   Presidents and Prime Ministers, their generals and ministers tell what happened behind closed doors as peace talks failed and the intifada exploded.
