Administration “Brings em home” from Iraq

July 2006

The Bush Administration is pleased to announce that bewteen 20,000 and 40,000 troops are on their way home from Iraq.

They will say it’s because the job is being done and Iraqi troops are now ready to take over.  I say this is how republicans get re-elected.  How is deciding that the troops should stay longer/shorter in order to maximize political clout supporting the troops?  One thing is for sure, the right time to start bringing them home is JUST BEFORE THE 2006 ELECTIONS!

Personal Bankruptcy

October 2006

The Bush administration is pleased to announce that the economy is “stronger than ever” when the new U.S. Personal Bankruptcy statistics show that the number of people filing in 2006 is half of 2005.  This would break a bad U.S. consumer habit of setting a new record every year since 2001.

In October of 2005, a new bankruptcy law will take effect making it harder to file.  It has so far caused a huge spike in the number of people rushing to beat the deadline.  How is it that making it harder for people who are in debt to the point no return to file for bankruptcy makes the economy stronger?  Spinnnnnn, watch and see.
